The bronze statue Boxer at Rest was excavated in Rome in 1885 on the south slope of the Quirinal Hill near the ancient Baths of Constantine, where it is thought to have been displayed. The Boxer was displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC from Jun 1 – Jul 18. What a sight. This statue is beautiful. I’m not sure I did it much justice with my feeble photography attempts. My family is a HUGE fan of Boxing, whereas I am not, so I decided I might as well show some interest and show them a thing or two I learned. Just marvelous. The Boxer took my breath away.
