Opinion: Google “Contacts”

Yes, Google’s Diabetes Contacts sound really cool.

This past Thursday, Google introduced their smart contact lens project. Essentially, the contacts will show a pre-defined range of blood sugar levels by a tiny sensor built into the lens, and the wearer will be notified. Sounds pretty wicked. No more pricking of the finger!

The stats: one in every 19 people on the planet have Diabetes, while one in every 12 people in the United States have Diabetes.

Market Prospects: Google says they are in “discussions” with the US FDA and are looking for partners.

However, the BIG question: What about a cure?

*Google Contacts gives me hope for a cure not to far down the road. I stand behind any new development that help make life easier for Diabetics.
