December Checklist: Things You Gotta Do

1. Wake up for the Orion Flight Test Launch (Dec 4). NOW Dec 5
NASA Is Launching a Spacecraft That Will Take Humans to Mars. NASA is launching its boldest test flight in decades this week. An unmanned capsule will head off on Thursday to reach a distance of 3,600 miles from Earth—the farthest space mission with a craft designed to accommodate humans since the final Apollo 17 trip to the moon in 1972. 2. Get excited for the Wild movie release (Dec 5).
Based on Cheryl Strayed’s autobiographical novel, Wild is the story of one woman’s attempt to reclaim her life. Faced with the death of her beloved mother and the end of her marriage, Strayed (played by Reese Witherspoon) sets out to hike the Pacific Crest Trail–one of the country’s most grueling. Although she has zero outdoor skills, she tackles the wilderness to prove to herself that she can. #GirlPower

3. Stuff your face for National Brownie Day (Dec 8).
Umm.. Who doesn’t love an excuse to eat brownies?? It’s National Brownie Day, so go crazy. No judgment. Post lots of pics!

4. Spread the word on Human Rights Day (Dec 10).
In 1950, the UN General Assembly made December 10 Human Rights Day, to acknowledge global human rights as a goal we should all work toward. To support the Human Rights Campaign, follow @UNrightswire on Twitter, or use the hashtag #rights365. Show the UN and the WORLD why you support human rights.

5. Celebrate Hanukkah (Dec 16-24)…
…or “Hannukah,” or “Chanukah.” However you spell it, this year, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights begins on December 16. Whether you celebrate with family or friends, I wish you a happy and healthy holiday. I plan on celebrating, in honor of my adoptive family in New Joisey!

6. Commemorate Lady Bird Johnson on her birthday (Dec 22).
Lady Bird Johnson, whose real name was Claudia Alta Taylor Johnson, was First Lady of the United States from 1934 to 1973. Best known for planting millions of wildflowers along American highways, she also bankrolled LBJ’s congressional campaign and invested in radio and TV stations. 7. Enjoy time with loved ones on Christmas Day (Dec 25).
Duh, a wonderful day full of friends, family, and good cheer is finally here 🙂 Heat up some egg nog and plant yourself next to a roaring fire for a relaxing day or spend time celebrating your way. Just don’t stress!

8. Head to the movies for Into the Woods, the Interview or Unbroken (Dec 25).
Rock, paper, scissors. That’s all I’m saying.. Let me know what you think of the movies!

9. Celebrate on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31).
What we’ve all been waiting for all year. Pull out your snazzy threads and pop the champagne or collar BECAUSE 2015 is coming. Fun Fact: According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2015 is the year of the sheep, which symbolizes peace, harmony, and tranquility in the year to come. Party Hard and see y’all next year!
